Today is the first day of our "HOMEMADE FOOD " series. We are going to make a very easy but tasty dhokla.

Dhokla is loved all over India but its origin is from Gujarat. But the flavour has reached all over India. So without wasting time let's start our recipe.

Dhokla Recipe


Ingredients:-

- 2 cup Gram flour(besan)

- 2 tsp Ginger and green chilli paste

- 2 tbsp Semolina (sooji)

- Salt to taste

- 1/3 tsp Turmeric powder

- 1.5 tbsp Sugar

- 1 tsp Fruit Salt (Eno-unflavoured)

-2 tbsp Lemon juice

-1 tsp Cooking oil

-1/2 glass(150 ml) lukewarm Water

For Tadka or Tempering:

-3 Green chilli(split)

-Curry leaves

- 1 tsp Mustard seeds

- 2 pinch Asafoetida(Hing)

- 1/2 tsp Sugar

- Salt to taste

- Coriander leaves

- Cooking oil

How to make it?

1) Take a bowl and sieve the gram flour.

2) Add semolina and sugar, mix it properly.

3) Add water and lemon juice and mix it properly.

Your Batter Is Ready


Cover it and leave it for 15 minutes.

4) Boil 2 glasses of water in a steamer or pan and grease a deep plate or cake tin.

To Steam The Dhoklas


5) After 15 minutes, add ginger-green chilli paste, salt, turmeric powder, and 1 tsp of oil, mix it well.

6) Add fruit salt(eno) in the batter and 1 tbsp of water on fruit salt and mix it for 10-15 seconds.

7) Pour the batter into the greased cake tin/plate immediately after mixing it.

8) Put the lid and cook it for 20 minutes on medium flame.

Cook It For 20 minutes


9) Turn off the flame and let it cool down a bit. Then take it out on a plate. 

Steamed Dhokla


10) Take another pan and add 1/2 cup water and sugar and heat it for 10 minutes on medium flame till it turns into a sugar syrup.

11) Heat oil in a tadka pan, add asafoetida, mustard seeds, green chilli, curry leaves, and salt. Fry it for few seconds, turn off the flame and pour the tadka on the dhokla.

12) Pour some prepared syrup on the dhoklas and enjoy it!

Your soft spongy dhokla is ready to be served.

Serve the dhokla with green chutney and tomato sauce and garnish it with fresh coconut and coriander leaves.

Note:- 

1) Do not open the lid while steaming the dhoklas.

2) Do not add too much eno. 

Serve it with some fresh coriander chutney
