Chicken chili is a recipe which is a Chinese recipe that is often served with Chow Mein, Hakka noodles, etc.
We often go to restaurants and also order chicken chili online but today I am going to tell you a unique recipe of chili chicken which tastes awesome 😋 even after heating in the oven.
You can make this recipe in parties and everyone will love it.
Let's start the recipe,
Ingredients required for making chili chicken:-
- About 400 grams of boneless chicken. For more juicy taste take chicken breasts/thighs.
For marination:
Ingredients:-
- 400 grams of Chicken
- 2 Tsp Ginger, Garlic paste
- 2 Tsp Black pepper
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Vinegar
- 1 Egg
- 3 Tbsp corn starch(arrowroot)
- 2 Tbsp refined flour (Maida)
- 1 Tsp oil
* Note -
- Vinegar is important to cook the chicken well.
- The egg gives the chicken a nice coating for making chili chicken gravy.
- We have to keep the ratio of corn starch and maida in the rato 2:3.

How to marinate the chicken? :
- Take the chicken, ginger - garlic paste, black pepper, salt, vinegar, and mix them well.
- Now add the egg and mix well.
- Take 3 Tbsp corn starch and 2 Tbsp and 1 Tsp maida and mix it well.
Keep it aside for 1/2 to 1 hour.
For gravy :
Ingredients:-
- 1/2 Capsicum
- 3 Green Chillies ( Take the chilies as per your taste)
- 1 Onion
- 1 Tsp Ginger
- Green onion (optional)
Assembling Process :
- Chop the ginger and garlic into very fine pieces.
- Cut out small pieces of onion and capsicum.
- Chop the green onion into slices.
*Keep the chopped green onion's white and green part separately because we will add the green part later.
Amazing and simple sauce for making the gravy :
- Take a bowl and add 1 cup of water .
- 1 Tsp vinegar.
- 2 Tbsp soya sauce
- 2 Tsp chili sauce
- 2 Tsp tomato ketchup
- 1 Tbsp corn starch
* Always add corn starch in water at room temperature.
Mix all the ingredients well.
Now let's move to the next step,
Frying the marinated chicken
1. Take a frying pan used for deep frying.
2. Fill it half with oil and start heating it. (Fill the oil in the frying pan to the level such that the chicken can be fried easily.)
3. Keep the oil medium hot while heating.
4. One by one add the marinated chicken in medium hot oil and don't stir the chicken immediately wait for at least 30-40 seconds. Stir the chicken after the coating sets into the chicken pieces. Stir the chicken at regular time intervals till the chicken turns golden brown.
Follow the same steps to fry all the chicken pieces.
Our fried chicken is ready.
Let's move to our next and final process.
Making the gravy:
1. Take a Chinese frying pan used to make chowmein to get the best results. Otherwise use a normal frying pan.
2. Take 4-5 Tbsp oil in the pan.
3. Keep the flame of gas high.
4. Heat the oil till smoke comes out from it.
5. Now add the white portion of green onion and ginger and garlic and cook it for 1 minute.
6. Add all the other veggies except the green portion of green onion.
7. Cook them for 2 minutes in high flame.
8. Add the sauce made earlier after stirring it well and wait for the sauce to boil.
9. Now add 1 Tsp salt, 3/4 Tsp black pepper, and 1 Tsp sugar to balance the taste. Stir it well and cook for 1-2 minutes till the gravy starts boiling.
10. Add the chicken in the gravy and stir it well but not more than 40 seconds.
11.After turning off the flame of gas add the green part of the green onion.
Serve this chicken chili hot with chow mein, Hakka noodles, Indian bread (roti), naan, etc.
