Hey guys! Welcome to Foodies Thikana.
Today we are going to make easy naan at home. This recipe is very easy and you can make it without using yeast, tandoor, and oven also.
Naan is loved all over India and many other countries. We generally go to a restaurant to eat Naan but you will be amazed to see this interesting recipe of naan with minimum ingredients. It tastes awesome. Do try this recipe.
In this recipe, you will learn how to make 3 different types of naan( Plain Naan, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan ).
So, let's get started.
Assembling all the ingredients to make the dough:
- 2+1/2 Cups of all-purpose flour (Maida)
- 1 Tsp Salt (as per taste)
- 1 Tsp Sugar
- 3/4 Tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 Cup of sour curd
- 4 Tsp cooking oil
- Some onion seeds (Kalaungi)
- Some fresh coriander leaves.
Additional requirement for Garlic naan:
- 5-6 cloves of Garlic (Cut the garlic cloves very fine.)
Additional Requirement for butter naan:
- Some Butter
How to knead the dough?
1- Take a bowl and add the Flour, Salt, Sugar, Baking powder, and baking soda and mix them well.
2- Now add some oil and mix it.
3- Add the curd and the milk and knead it to make a soft dough.
4. Apply some oil on the kneaded dough and cover it with a soft cloth and keep it aside for at least 40 minutes.
*Note-
1. Knead the dough for at least 10-15 minutes for the best results because we are using curd instead of yeast.
2. If you have enough time then keep the dough for 2-3 hours. It will give you the best results and super delicious Naans.
Making Process:
1. After 2 hours (The time you have kept the dough aside.) knead it once again for 2-3 minutes.
2. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it using a rolling pin. ( The naans should be rolled in almost a triangular shape same as the restaurants.)
Do not roll the dough completely.
3. Take some onion seeds and coriander and sprinkle them on the dough and roll the dough, so that they stick to the dough. (To make Garlic Naan just add the garlic at this stage.)
4. Heat a Tawa/a flat pan in medium flame.
5. Apply some water on the opposite side of the dough and place the wet part on the Tawa.
6. When you see the bubbles pop out of the dough turn the Tawa upside down and cook till it gets roasted well. (Do not burn the naan).
Serving suggestions:
1. If you want to eat plain naan then nothing is to be done.
2. If you want to eat butter or garlic naan then just apply some butter on the naan.
3. Serve it with Paneer Butter Masala, Chili Chicken, etc.
